Trailer Build - Week Fifteen - February 19, 2017

The work has continued, I just fell behind keeping the blog updated.  Here is what was accomplished in Week 15:

After completing all the staining and urethane of the cabinet drawer and door fronts I finally got all the pieces installed.  It was kind of a pain making sure all the faces lined up with the cabinet sides, adjacent drawers and trailer sidewalls when mounting the faces from the inside of the drawers, and making sure I had proper clearance from the counter top, cutting board opening and sink inset inset.

I received the LED light strips and aluminum housing for the cabin area which I am recessing into the headboard shelf.  I deliberated on this for a while, as I had seen aluminum housings that were surfaced mounted and projected the light at a 45 degree angle which I initially contemplated, but I didn't want the light shining directly into my eyes as you enter the trailer so I went the recessed route.

LED's are Quite Bright

The photo above is in my garage at night with all lights off and only the LED strip illuminated.  I figured a 40 inch long strip would be sufficient and it is the only light fixture I am installing inside the cabin.  The natural white light strip and housing cost approximately $40, so not a bad price for a clean light installation.  I also purchase a remote control dimmer switch (shown below) which cost approximately $10 which needs to be installed in-line with the power feed and will tone things down a bit.

I purchased this and the LED lights for the galley from Super Bright LED's .com.  I can't say they have the best price, but they don't gouge for shipping and have a tech support line which comes in handy when you don't know what your doing!
